SBN LOTO+ Mobile App

SBN LOTO+ is the mobile app for managing Lockout/Tagout procedures in the field. Users can create LOTO procedures from templates, manage dynamic lists for tracking energy sources and hazards, attach photos, and sync data between their device and the SBN web platform—with or without an active internet connection. Completed procedures sync back to the web for reporting and review.

Getting the App

SBN LOTO+ is available for both iOS and Android.

  • iOS: Search for "SBN LOTO+" in the App Store
  • Android: Search for "SBN LOTO+" in Google Play

Download and install the app before attempting to log in. Contact your SBN administrator if you need help identifying which app to use for your role.

Logging In

To log in to SBN LOTO+:

  1. Open the app and tap SIGN IN AS EXISTING USER
  2. On the Enter Domain screen, enter your organization's SBN domain in the domain field and tap GO. The .simplebutneeded.net suffix is fixed — enter only your organization's subdomain.
  3. Enter your Username and Password and tap LOGIN

Your domain and credentials are provided by your SBN administrator. If you do not know your domain, tap FORGOT DOMAIN? on the domain entry screen.

The Launch Pad

After logging in, the app opens to the Launch Pad—the home screen for SBN LOTO+. The Launch Pad is organized into four sections: Procedures, Dynamic Lists, Drafts, and Sync.

The Settings icon (gear) in the top-left corner provides access to app-level configuration. The Log Out button in the top-right corner ends your session.

Procedures

The Procedures section provides two actions for managing LOTO procedure records.

Create

Tap Create to open the Select Template screen. This screen displays all procedure templates available to you—templates are created and managed by administrators in Process > Administration > Procedures in the web interface. Each template is listed with a green Select button. Tap Select on any template to open a new LOTO procedure based on that template's structure. Use the Search bar at the top to filter available templates by name.

Retrieve

Tap Retrieve to search and browse existing LOTO procedures. A Search Procedures by... dialog appears with the following options:

  • Description, Barcode, or Asset Id — search procedures by description text, barcode, or asset identifier
  • Where I am the Creator — displays procedures you created
  • Exact Location — search for procedures at a specific location (exact match only)
  • Location + Sublocations — search for procedures at a location and all its sublocations
  • Launch Pad — closes the dialog and returns to the Launch Pad

Selecting Description, Barcode, or Asset Id opens the Search for LOTO By... screen with three tabs: Description, Barcode, and Asset Id. The Asset Id tab is selected by default. Enter search text in the field and tap the go button on the keyboard to search. Tap Scan Barcode to use your device's camera to scan a barcode.

Selecting Exact Location or Location + Sublocations opens the Locations screen, which displays a searchable list of all locations in your organization. Each location is shown with a green Select button. Locations with sublocations also display a blue Next Level button—tap this to navigate into the location hierarchy and view child locations. Use the Search bar at the top to filter locations by name. Tap Select on any location to search for procedures at that location.

Selecting Where I am the Creator opens the Search Results screen, which displays a list of matching procedures. Each record shows the procedure description (in blue), creator name (in blue), location name (in bold), and completion timestamp. Tap Refresh in the top-right corner to reload the list. Tap any record to open it.

Dynamic Lists

The Dynamic Lists section provides two actions for managing dynamic list entries. Dynamic lists are customizable tracking lists used within procedures to document energy sources, hazards, equipment, or other procedure-specific items that need to be isolated, controlled, or verified during lockout/tagout operations.

Add New

Tap Add New to create a new dynamic list entry. The Create List form opens with collapsible sections.

System Information — A collapsible section containing the following fields:

  • Name* — Required. Text field for naming the dynamic list entry.
  • Unit — Optional text field.
  • Equipment Name Number — Optional text field.
  • Job Description — Optional multi-line text field.
  • Lockbox Number Location — Optional text field.

Dynamic Items — A collapsible section for adding and managing dynamic list items. The available item types (such as "Electrical," "Mechanical," "Hydraulic," "Pneumatic") are configured by administrators in Process > Administration > Dynamic List Types in the web interface. Tap Add New Items to open the item selection screen.

The Add New Items screen displays all available dynamic list item types. Each item type has and + buttons to adjust the quantity of that item to add. Tap Done in the top-right corner to add the selected items. Tap Cancel to return without adding items.

Added items appear in the Dynamic Items section as a numbered list. Each item displays its type name and number. Tap an item to configure it. Tap Add New Items to add more items. Tap Reorder & Manage Items to enter reorder mode, which displays red buttons for removing items and drag handles for reordering.

Tap Save Draft at the bottom of the screen to save your progress without submitting, or tap Complete to submit the dynamic list entry.

Creating a LOTO Procedure

When you select a template from the Select Template screen, the LOTO procedure form displays the template name at the top (for example, "Confined Space - Hazard A..."). The form is organized into collapsible sections, which vary based on how the template was configured by administrators in Process > Administration > Procedures in the web interface.

Common sections include:

System Information — A collapsible section containing template-specific fields. The Description field is typically required (marked with a red asterisk). This section may also include fields such as:

  • Barcode — Displays a barcode scanner icon and search icon for scanning or looking up equipment
  • Asset ID — Text field for entering an asset identifier
  • Additional custom fields configured by your administrator

Status — Dropdown field for selecting the current procedure status. Available options are configured by administrators.

Photos — Allows you to attach images to the procedure. Tap the + button to add a photo.

Location — A collapsible section containing location-related fields:

  • Location* — Required field (marked with red asterisk and *Required badge). Tap to select a location from your accessible location hierarchy.
  • Location Comment — Optional free-text field for additional location context.

Question Sections — A collapsible section containing any questions or checklists configured in the template. The structure and content of this section depends on how the template was built by administrators.

An upload icon appears in the top-right corner of the navigation bar. Tap the ... menu in the top-right corner to access additional options for the procedure.

Tap Save Draft at the bottom of the screen to save your progress without submitting, or tap Complete to submit the LOTO procedure.

Submitting a Procedure

When a procedure is submitted, the app displays a confirmation dialog with the message Procedure Saved to Cloud.

From this dialog you can:

  • Tap Launch Pad to return to the Launch Pad home screen
  • Tap Send Report to generate a PDF report for the completed procedure

If you tap Send Report, a confirmation dialog appears with the message PDF Report Generated Successfully and instructions to check the email address associated with your account for a link to the report. Tap Launch Pad to return to the Launch Pad.

Drafts

The Drafts section stores LOTO procedures and dynamic list entries that have been started but not yet submitted. The badge on the Edit tile indicates the total number of drafts currently saved on your device.

Tap Edit to open a Select Draft Type: dialog with three options:

  • Procedure — opens the procedure drafts list
  • Dynamic Lists — opens the dynamic list drafts list
  • Dismiss — closes the dialog and returns to the Launch Pad

Selecting Procedure opens the Procedure Drafts screen. Each draft displays a name or description (in blue), a status line showing missing information (such as "No Location Selected."), and a NEW label in red. Each draft has a blue Select button to open and continue editing, and a red Delete button to remove it. Tap Done in the top-right corner to return to the Launch Pad.

Selecting Dynamic Lists opens the Dynamic List Drafts screen. Each draft displays a name (in blue), a description or status line, and a NEW label in red. Each draft has a blue Select button to open and continue editing, and a red Delete button to remove it. Tap Done in the top-right corner to return to the Launch Pad.
