Dashboards

Overview

The Dashboards section provides interactive data visualizations that aggregate SBN operational data into charts, graphs, and metric summaries. Dashboards answer "how are we doing?" questions at a glance — the same data available in Results and Reports, but surfaced as visual trends and breakdowns without running exports or applying filters manually.

Dashboards are available in the Inspect, Asset, and Process modules, accessible via the Dashboards tab in the top navigation of each module.

Each module has slightly different dashboard tabs:

  • Inspect — Performance, Locations, Custom, Maps
  • Asset — Performance, Custom, Maps
  • Process — Performance, Maps

Performance Dashboard

The Performance dashboard is available in all three modules and provides pre-built charts showing activity and totals across your operational data.

Data Types

Use the left sidebar to switch between data views:

  • Forms — Inspection/Procedure completion counts and activity
  • Assets — Asset counts and activity
  • Exceptions — Exception counts and activity
  • Questions — Question-level response data
  • Calculations — Calculated score data
  • Scoring — Score performance across checklists

Chart Types

Each data view displays two charts by default:

  • Total — count breakdown over the selected date range
  • Activity — weekly trend line showing record creation over time

Toggle between Bar, Pie, and Table display formats using the checkboxes above the charts.

Date Range

Use the date range toggles to control the time period for all charts:

  • All Time
  • Last 30 Days
  • Last 60 Days
  • Last 90 Days

Filters

Apply filters to focus the dashboard on specific data:

  • Forms — filter by checklist/procedure template
  • Owner — filter by record owner
  • Creator — filter by record creator

Click Update Charts to apply filter changes. Click Restore to revert to the last saved state.

Note: The Activity chart has its own independent date range selector separate from the top-level filters — use the date picker on the Activity chart to set a custom date range for that chart only.

Saving Dashboard Views

Multiple named dashboard views can be saved per module:

  1. Configure your filters and chart settings
  2. Click the Save button
  3. Name the view in the dropdown
  4. Switch between saved views using the dropdown selector

To create a new dashboard view:

  1. Click the gear icon (⚙) in the top right
  2. Select New Dashboard
  3. Name and configure the new view

To edit the current view's configuration, select Edit Dashboard from the gear icon menu. To print the current view, select Print Mode.

Locations Dashboard (Inspect Only)

The Locations tab provides a location-based breakdown of inspection and exception performance across your facility hierarchy.

The view lists all Root Locations with:

  • Number of Sub-Locations
  • Total Inspections count
  • Total Exceptions count

Drilling into Sub-Locations

  1. Find the location in the list
  2. Click Sub-Locations to navigate into that location's children
  3. A breadcrumb trail shows your current position (e.g. Root Locations / 1234)
  4. Click any level in the breadcrumb to navigate back up

Analyzing a Location

  1. Click Analyze next to any location
  2. A right-side analysis panel opens showing three sections:
  • Inspection Information — pie chart: Completed (green), Due (grey), Overdue (red), with counts per status
  • Exceptions — pie chart: Open (green), Closed (red), In Progress (blue), Deferred (yellow), with total count
  • Exception Priority Breakdown — pie chart showing exception distribution by priority level

Filters

  • Created Date — filter by inspection/exception creation date range
  • Inspector — filter by the inspector who performed the inspection

Custom Dashboards (Inspect and Asset)

Custom Dashboards are named collections of individual gadgets — each gadget a chart widget focused on a specific data slice.

Public vs Private

  • Public — visible to all users in the organization
  • Private — visible only to you

Toggle between Public and Private views using the buttons at the top of the Custom tab.

Creating a Custom Dashboard

  1. Click Create Dashboard from the Custom tab
  2. The Dashboard Creator panel opens on the right
  3. Enter a Title for the dashboard
  4. Enter a Version identifier (e.g. "v1")
  5. Set Private or Public visibility
  6. Click Save
  7. Click the Gadgets tab to add charts

Adding Gadgets

Gadgets are the individual chart widgets inside a Custom Dashboard.

  1. Open the dashboard and click Edit Dashboard
  2. The Gadgets panel opens showing all existing gadgets
  3. Click Add Gadget at the bottom of the panel
  4. The Gadget Editor opens: - Enter a Title for the gadget - Select a Gadget Type from the Select Gadget dropdown - (If applicable) Select which categories or data to include - Select Display format: Pie Chart or Bar Chart - Select Width: Half-Screen or Full-Screen - Set Optional Filters: Location, Owner
  5. Click Save to add the gadget to the dashboard

To edit an existing gadget, click Edit next to it in the Gadgets panel. To remove a gadget, click Remove.

Note: A Getting Started button is available in the top right of the Custom dashboard view for users new to the dashboard builder.

Gadget Filters

Each gadget has its own independent filters:

  • Owner — filter by record owner
  • Location — filter by one or more locations

Click Update on each gadget to apply filter changes.

Managing Custom Dashboards

  • Remove Dashboard — permanently delete the dashboard

Search for dashboards by name using the search field at the top of the list.

Maps Dashboard

The Maps dashboard (called Map Analysis) is available in all three modules and displays GPS-tagged records as pins on a Google Maps view — showing where inspections, exceptions, and procedures are occurring across your facilities.

Switching Between Data Types

The toggle options vary by module:

  • Inspect — Inspections / Exceptions
  • Asset — Inspections / Exceptions
  • Process — Procedures / Inspections / Exceptions

Map View

  • Inspect — Satellite view only
  • Asset and Process — Toggle between Map and Satellite views

Filters

Filter options vary by module:

Inspect and Asset filters: Forms, Creator, Frequency, Status, Location, Owner, Submission, Workflow

Process filters: Equipment Name, Template, Barcode, External Asset ID, Location, Owner, Status, Completed, Created, Next Review, Last Review, Last Reviewed By

Click Search (Process) or Filter (Inspect/Asset) to apply filters. Active filters appear as removable chips above the map.

Coordinate Requirements

Note: Only records with captured GPS coordinates appear as pins on the map. Records without coordinates are counted in the total but not shown. Coordinate capture must be enabled on the checklist template or procedure template for records to appear here.

The status bar at the bottom shows how many records have coordinates vs the total (e.g. "39 of 50 with coordinates | 492 total"). Results are paginated at 50 records per page.

Use the full-screen button (top right of map) to expand the map view. Use the street view control (bottom right) for ground-level navigation.

Scope

Dashboards display aggregated data from records already captured in SBN. They do not make regulatory determinations, calculate compliance scores, or certify performance against external standards. For regulatory interpretation, consult a qualified EHS professional.
