SBN Inspect+ Mobile App
SBN Inspect+ is the mobile app for conducting inspections and managing exceptions in the field. Users can complete checklists, log exceptions, attach photos, and sync data between their device and the SBN web platform—with or without an active internet connection. Scheduled inspections assigned through the web interface appear automatically in the app, and completed records sync back to the web for reporting and review.
Getting the App
SBN Inspect+ is available for both iOS and Android.
- iOS: Search for "SBN Inspect+" in the App Store
- Android: Search for "SBN Inspect+" in Google Play
Download and install the app before attempting to log in. Contact your SBN administrator if you need help identifying which app to use for your role.
Logging In
To log in to SBN Inspect+:
- Open the app and tap SIGN IN AS EXISTING USER
- On the Enter Domain screen, enter your organization's SBN domain in the domain field and tap GO. The .simplebutneeded.net suffix is fixed — enter only your organization's subdomain.
- Enter your Username and Password and tap LOGIN
Your domain and credentials are provided by your SBN administrator. If you do not know your domain, tap FORGOT DOMAIN? on the domain entry screen.
The Launch Pad
After logging in, the app opens to the Launch Pad—the home screen for SBN Inspect+. The Launch Pad is organized into four sections: Inspections, Exceptions, Drafts, and Sync.
The Settings icon (gear) in the top-left corner provides access to app-level configuration. The Log Out button in the top-right corner ends your session.
Inspections
The Inspections section provides three actions for managing inspection records.
Tasks
Tap Tasks to open the Due Inspections screen, which lists inspections that have been scheduled and assigned to you. Each record displays the checklist name, location, schedule type (such as AD HOC), and the assigned inspector. Use the Search bar at the top to filter by name or location. Tap a record to open it and complete the assigned inspection.
Scheduled inspections are created and assigned by administrators in the SBN web interface. Contact your administrator if you expect to see an inspection that is not appearing in your list.
Start New
Tap Start New to open the Select Checklist screen. This screen displays all checklists available to you—checklists are created and managed by administrators in the web interface. Tap a checklist to open a new inspection based on that checklist's structure. The inspection form is pre-built from the checklist; you complete the questions and submit when finished. Use the Search bar to filter available checklists by name.
View History
Tap View History to open the Completed Inspections screen, which displays inspections you have previously submitted. Each record shows the checklist name, completion date and time, location, schedule type, and inspector. Use the Search bar to filter records. Tap a record to view its details.
Tapping a completed inspection opens the inspection detail view, which displays a completion timestamp at the top followed by two collapsible sections: General and Question Sections. The General section shows the Inspector, Location, and Description. The Question Sections area lists each section from the checklist with a counter showing how many questions were answered. Tap Edit at the bottom of the screen to make changes to the completed inspection. Tap the ... menu in the top-right corner to access additional options:
- Preview — View a formatted preview of the completed inspection
- Clone — Create a new inspection pre-populated with the same data as this one
- Send Report — Send a report of this inspection
- Map — View the inspection's location on a map
- Dismiss — closes the menu
Completing an Inspection
When you open an inspection from Tasks, Start New, or Drafts, the inspection form displays the checklist name at the top. The form is organized into two collapsible sections: General and Question Sections.
General contains the following fields:
- Inspector — Auto-populated with the logged-in user.
- Location* — Required. Pre-populated if the inspection was scheduled or previously saved.
- Description — Optional free-text field for additional context.
Question Sections lists each section defined in the checklist. Each section displays a progress counter showing how many questions have been answered. A red counter indicates unanswered questions remain in that section. Tap a section to expand it and answer its questions.
Questions are displayed as configured in the checklist by your administrator. Required questions are highlighted in red. Each question type presents the appropriate input — such as a toggle, text field, or photo capture button. Tap the ... menu on any question to access additional options for that question. Tap the x button to clear a previously entered answer.
Tap Save Draft to save your progress without submitting, or tap Complete to submit the inspection.
Submitting an Inspection
When an inspection is submitted, the app displays a confirmation screen with a green checkmark and the message INSPECTION UPLOADED!
From this screen you can:
- Tap START ANOTHER INSPECTION to immediately begin a new inspection. By default, the same checklist and location from the completed inspection are pre-selected. Uncheck either option to change them.
- Tap REQUEST REPORT to generate a report for the completed inspection.
- Tap Exit & Return to return to the Launch Pad.
Exceptions
The Exceptions section provides access to corrective actions and findings logged during inspections.
Field Check
Tap Field Check to create a new standalone exception. The New Exception form opens with three collapsible sections: Details, Photos, and Classifications.
Details contains the following fields:
- Creator — Auto-populated with the logged-in user. Read-only.
- Location* — Required. Tap to select a location from your accessible location hierarchy.
- Description* — Required. Free-text field for describing the exception. Tap the speech bubble icon to open the Recommendations picker, which displays pre-configured recommendations available for selection. Tap See Detail on any recommendation to view its full text before selecting it. Tap Select to insert the recommendation into the description field. Recommendations are configured by administrators in the web interface.
- Due Date — Optional. Tap to select a date. Tap the x button to clear the selection.
- Status* — Required. Select one: Open, Closed, In Progress, or Deferred.
- Priority* — Required. Select one: Immediate, High, Medium, or Low.
- Owner — Tap to select the user responsible for resolving the exception. Defaults to the logged-in user.
Photos allows you to attach images to the exception. Tap the + button to add a photo.
Classifications displays the classification fields configured by your administrator. Each classification has a dropdown to select the appropriate value.
Tap Save Draft to save the exception without submitting it, or tap Complete to submit the exception.
View List
Tap View List to search and browse existing exceptions. A Search Exceptions by... dialog appears with the following options:
- Where I am the Creator — displays exceptions you created
- Where I am the Owner — displays exceptions assigned to you as the owner
- Advanced Search — search across exceptions using additional filter criteria
- Dismiss — closes the dialog and returns to the Launch Pad
Both Where I am the Creator and Where I am the Owner open the My Exceptions screen, a searchable list of exceptions matching the selected filter. Each record displays the creator name, date and time, status, priority, location, description, and any applied classifications. Tap Refresh in the top right to reload the list. Tap a record to open it.
Tapping an exception record opens the exception detail view. A LAST UPDATED timestamp appears at the top. The Details section displays Creator, Location, Description, Additional Information, and Due Date. Tap Update to save changes or Close to return to the list without saving.
Advanced Search opens the Exception Search Form, which allows you to filter exceptions using the following criteria:
- Current User — toggle between Creator and Owner
- Location — tap to select a location
- Priority — select one or more: Immediate, High, Medium, Low
- Status — select one or more: Open, Closed, In Progress, Deferred
- Date Type — toggle between Open Date and Due Date
- Date Minimum and Date Maximum — enter a date range
Tap Search in the top right to run the search. Tap Clear Search Form to reset all filters.
Drafts
The Drafts section stores inspections and exceptions that have been started but not yet submitted. The badge on the Edit tile indicates the total number of drafts currently saved on your device.
Tap Edit to open a Select Draft Type dialog with two options:
- Inspections — opens the inspection drafts list
- Exceptions — opens the exception drafts list
- Dismiss — closes the dialog and returns to the Launch Pad
Selecting Inspections opens the Inspections drafts list. Each record displays the checklist name, number of question sections, location, and a status label. Tap a record to open it and continue where you left off. Tap Edit in the top right to delete drafts from the list.
Selecting Exceptions opens the Exceptions drafts list. Each record displays the owner, status, priority, a status label, and the exception description. Tap a record to open it and continue editing. Tap Edit in the top right to delete drafts from the list.
